The Costa Brava is one of Spain most celebrated coastlines – in the northern part of Catalonia. It is made up of many small coastal towns that can be reached through different ways.

Transfers from Barcelona Airport to the Costa Brava are often complicated but always doable. In any case a first transfer to Barcelona city is needed. There are two public transport options to Costa Brava from Barcelona Airport:

- RENFE Train (with transfer at Barcelona Sants rail station)

- Coach (with a change in Barcelona Nord bus station)

By Train

There are no direct trains from Barcelona Airport to the Costa Brava area. Therefore, it is necessary to take a train into the centre of Barcelona to head out towards the North of Catalonia.

Take the Barcelona Airport Train – The C2 to Estacio Sants. If you are arriving to Terminal 1 (T1) you will not be able to walk straight to the train station, as it is 4km away. You will need to take a Shuttle bus from outside the Terminal.

At Estacio Sants you will need to change. From Estacio Sants, there are numerous trains leaving to various parts of the Costa Brava. For many of the smaller towns, such as Lloret de Mar and Tossa de Mar, it is necessary to catch a train to Blanes – from Blanes it is necessary to catch a bus.

By Coach

There is no direct coach from Barcelona Airport to Costa Brava. You will have to go to the centre of Barcelona in order to take a coach – coaches only run from Barcelona Nord bus station.

If you are coming from the Airport, there is no direct route from the Airport to Barcelona Nord.

From Barcelona Nord Bus Station there are several coaches leaving to various areas of the Costa Brava. They are run by different coach companies. Therefore, the best is to check the Barcelona Nord Website. Under the ‘Time Schedule’ section it is possible to enter the station and the area to which you want to travel. It will offer several journeys available to you.

It is worth checking the various routes that the buses can take. Some buses stop more often than others.

By Taxi

The transfer option you choose to the Costa Brava from Barcelona Airport depends on where in Costa Brava you want to go to. The coast of the Costa Brava is long and the coastal roads are likely to be winding. If you are interested in taking a taxi to your final destination it is best to call ahead to see what price they can estimate.
