Airlines must compensate passengers on long-delayed flights

The European Court of Justice has ruled that passengers on flights delayed for more than 3 hours have the same right to seek compensation from airlines as passengers on canceled flights.
EU regulations entitle passengers on canceled flights to be compensated between €250 and €600, and the new legislation states that “passengers who are affected by a delay sustain similar damage to those affected by a cancellation, consisting in a loss of time, and thus are in a comparable situation”.
Passengers booked on canceled flights are entitled to compensation from airlines even if they are immediately re booked on another flight, provided the new flight arrives more than 3 hours later than the original ETA.
